Review: Sonik VaderX Rod Pods
The Sonik VaderX Rod Pods come under the beady eye of Angler’s Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He’s the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.
Description: multiple-rod support systems for hard terrain.
Specifications: goalpost-style rod pods for supporting two or three rods; buzzer bars; fold-out base; adjustable legs; lightweight aluminium construction; height and length adjustable; supplied in a compact, padded case.
Dimensions (W, L, H): Two rod: 22.5 x 52-75 x 21.5-40 cm. Transport length: 10 x 51 x 18 cm. Three rod: 42.5 x 68-97 x 21.5-40 cm. Transport length: 10 x 57 x 18 cm. Both allow a 17.5 cm reel spacing. Two-rod version weighs 830 g, three-rod 990 g.
My verdict: these brand-new rod pods are simple and fuss free.
You can keep your back rests and alarms on the bars while in storage, simply sliding the whole lot out of the padded case when required.
Then add the legs to the buzzer bars, drop them into position on the base, make any length and height adjustments that you need, and you’re in business.
You can adjust the system further if you need to, or you could even use the sticks and bars without the base, goalpost-style, when fishing on soft ground.
The system is compact, pretty light, stable and well priced.
