Review: Carp Spirit Magnum X1 42 in. Multi-Net
The Carp Spirit Magnum X1 42 in. Multi-Net comes under the beady eye of Angler’s Mail tackle editor Richard Howard. He’s the No.1 products inspector, checking out loads of quality kit every week.
Description: top-of-the-range landing net.
Specifications: adjustable and lightweight three-piece carbon handle that can be used at 3, 6 and 9 ft lengths; 42 in. arms; carbon spreader block; EVA end caps; stainless steel arm ends; clip magnet; adjustable cord; Japanese shrink wrap handle.
My verdict: as far as top-end carp landing nets go, this one is right up there. It’s well made and well thought out.
I like the versatility of the three-piece handle, as you can use it at 3 ft when netting fish from a boat, or you can extend it to 9 ft, for when you want to net a fish on the other side of weed, or when landing hooked fish at the end of a long zig rig link.
It packs down compactly, too, which is always useful.
The one-piece spreader block looks strong, and the EVA end caps will help prevent grit and mud jamming the spigots on the handle.
The mesh looks to be fish-friendly, and the magnet helps keep the bottom of the mesh nice and tidy when you’re sliding the net out into the margins, to net a fish.
The rolled, stainless ends of the arms are a nice touch, and anglers on weedy waters will welcome the fact that you can tension the net cord when netting a fish in a ball of weed.
Designed to match their new Magnum carp rods, which also tick a lot of boxes, it looks as if Carp Spirit have addressed every potential ‘sticking point’ when they designed this landing net.
It gets my seal of approval.
